Tour of SLAC and the former Collider Detector Hall

After the first day of the conference was concluded, SLAC (the Stanford Linear Accelerator Center) held a reception in their former collider detector hall (they are currently using a different location for their experiments). I don't have a clue what most of it did, but it was certainly an impressive place. We also got to stop in a visitor area and view the top part of the accelerator. Unlike most curved particle accelerators, SLAC's is straight (hence the 'linear'), and is housed several feet underground a building that is two miles long.
